Crack of Thunder Dinner plate
A crack detail in gold or platinum runs through the plate and almost looks like a crack of thunder. Japanese tradition included gluing broken china together and gilding it in gold to eccentuate the imperfection. These plates points to the inevitability of nature to eventually filter into all our manmade creations, despite our best efforts.
The theme of making unwanted marks into features using precious metal gilding also runs through the Drip and Lip Tease Teaware collection.
